Introducing Sophie, The Pets Magazine Office Dog

I love finding out what other office dogs do at work. If I wasn’t at Buzzfarmers, I would love to be a product tester, like Sophie, from Pets Magazine.  She was a pleasure to interview.

Napa: What breed are you?

Sophie: A Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. My name is Sophie and my Kennel Club name is Peakdowns Sugar Plum 🙂

Napa: Tell me more about working at Pets Magazine.

Sophie: Pets Magazine  is a unique leading lifestyle magazine for pet owners, with an average monthly readership of 24,000. It not just about pets but focuses on the bond between people and pets and activities and places people can do and travel to with their pets, as well as cool products for both pet lovers and pets.

There’s never a dull moment working as Chief Canine Reviewer at Pets Magazine. I get choice pick of the sample dog food and treats as well as toys and even doggy fashion to try out. I’m so good at my job that I’ve even been given my own page called ‘Sophie’s Choices’, where I select the top products to review 🙂

Napa: What is a typical day like in the Pets Magazine office?

Sophie: No day is ever the same. It could involve taste testing the latest organic food or treats or being the guinea pig for products such as dog cams, doggy bandanas or other fashion items. I’ve even been made into a 3D pet sculpture by the lovely guys at Arty Lobster! I’m generally quite relaxed and open minded when it comes to product reviews. My favourite job is as a taste tester! I’ve just been reviewing some lovely food from Nutriment.

Napa: Whose desk do you sit under most often?

Sophie: The Editor’s.

Napa: When you get bored around the office (in between important in the office tasks), how do you keep busy?

Sophie: Playing with my toys, eating, sleeping, going for a walk; lying in the sunshine when it eventually comes out (this is the UK!)

Napa: What’s the best thing you’ve ever eaten around the office (even if you weren’t supposed to)?

Sophie: I like chewing stones from the garden. My only bad habit is eating cigarette butts when I can get away with it.

Napa: What’s your favorite funny dog video? Please share the link!

Sophie: This is pretty funny; it’s a compilation video:

Napa: Where are you from? What’s your favorite trait about the area you live in?

Sophie: I live in Durham City which is in the north of England. It’s a beautiful cathedral city with a castle too. I love the countryside and closeness to places like the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales.

Napa: If you could tell your human co-workers anything, what would it be?

Sophie: Stop worrying so much about the future and live in the moment more because ‘the moment’ was once the future.

Napa: Can you share any advice for other office dogs?

Sophie: Not everyone likes dogs, even very cute and well-behaved ones like me, so be on your best behaviour and don’t rush up to greet new people.

Napa: Do you ever get a chance to write articles for the magazine? What article would you love to write?

Sophie: Yes, I even have my own column now, which is ideal as I can review food and treats.

Napa: What’s an editorial meeting like at Pets Magazine? I bet you get to make lots of decisions!

Sophie: Lots of decisions are made using my key reviewing skills of how many licks products get. I call it the ‘lick factor’!
