I love the internet. Not only does it provide me a platform to share my opinions, but it allows the the opportunity to meet office dogs from all over the world. Meet Roomsy, the myWebRoom office dog. He’s the Chief Dog Officer and mascot at this incredible Californian start up, but if you’re looking to work there, you better watch your toes!
Napa: What breed are you?
Roomsy: I’m a cross between a Lhasa Apso and a Maltese. I turned out pretty cute, huh?
Napa: Tell me more about myWebRoom.
Roomsy: myWebRoom.com is an interactive bookmarking platform where users can design their own room, access their favorite websites, discover trending content, and shop. I’m the mascot, so you’ll see cartoon versions of me all over the site showing people how to use its various features. There are also chalk drawings of me all over the walls at the myWebRoom office – that’s how much the hoomans love me!
Napa: What is a typical day like in the myWebRoom office?
Roomsy: My dad is the CEO, and my mom is the Head of Marketing, but I’m pretty much the most important one in the office. My official title is Chief Dog Officer. My main job is greeting all of the Roommates (that’s what we call our coworkers here) when I get into the office. I make sure that I go to each and every person’s desk and give them plenty of kisses and cuddles to start off their day.
Napa: Whose desk do you sit under most often?
Roomsy: Desks? We’re a classic San Francisco startup, so our office is filled with lots of super-fun furniture. This means there are tons of comfy places to nap. My favorite spot to curl up is a big, yellow bean bag right in the middle of the room. I also like to hang out by my mom.
Napa: When you get bored around the office (in between important in-the-office tasks), how do you keep busy?
Roomsy: I love to run around with a toy in my mouth and try to get people to play with me. Sometimes other people bring their dogs in, and then I get to run in circles with them around the office while everyone laughs.
Napa: What’s the best thing you’ve ever eaten around the office (even if you weren’t supposed to)?
Roomsy: Many of our lunches get catered, so I get a wide variety of leftovers and secret treats from everyone around the office. I love chocolate most of all, but no one lets me have any after that last time I found a piece of a chocolate bar and ran around the office nonstop for eight hours.
Napa: What’s your favorite funny dog video?
Roomsy: The ones that I’m in! Here’s an example of one:
Napa: Where are you from? What’s your favorite trait about the area you live in?
Roomsy: I live in San Francisco, which is the perfect place to work when you’re at a tech startup. I love how dog-friendly this city is. There are so many parks, which means endless places to meet new friends.
Napa: If you could tell your human co-workers anything, what would it be?
Roomsy: Stop working and play with me!
Napa: Can you share any advice for other office dogs?
Roomsy: Never let your humans be lonely; go around the office all day and spread the love! Also – if you’re really cute and jump on people’s laps at lunch time, you’ll definitely get treats!
Napa: If you created your own webroom, what would you put in it?
Roomsy: I actually have a room on the site that I let all my doggy friends from around the web hang out in! I bookmarked the best sites for any dog (or any dog parent) in there, so feel free to go check it out or even save it as your own.
