Looking for puppy Halloween costumes? I’ve got you covered.
I love Halloween: My favorite part is watching the trick-or-treaters walk through my neighborhood. I especially love the ones who come to my door. Every year I ask my parents if we can go trick-or-treating, but they won’t let me. They say that the “treats” are just human candy, not the beef kind I enjoy the most. But every once in a while, I see a dog all dressed up going house-to-house with his human family members. I’ve seen canines dressed up as spiders, hot dogs, and even a lobster. There are all sorts of fun puppy Halloween costumes!
If your dog is lucky enough to go trick-or-treating, here are a few playful puppy Halloween costumes they will love!
Cowboy Rider
This costume is called “Cowboy Rider,” but I’m thinking it would be great for a dog who’s big and strong – like a horse! I once knew a Siberian Husky who when she was running to chase a toy, she’d gallop a little while running. Oh, and she didn’t like being dressed up. She had a young human sister who would try to put doll clothes on the dog. Not okay. This would be a perfect costume for her. Not only would the rider theme work well with her galloping stride, she’d be comfortable wearing the harness.
Butterfly
I love chasing butterflies, but I can never quite catch one. They’re so fast, but most of all, they’re so beautiful. If you are thinking of dressing your dog in a costume this year, I highly recommend butterfly wings! The costume is simple and comfortable, and while your four-legged friend might notice their new appendages, they won’t have problems walking in this Halloween outfit.
Cowardly Lion
Love The Wizard of Oz? Have a terrified little puppy? The Cowardly Lion is one of my favorite puppy Halloween costumes. I know the perfect pup for this costume, and I bet her mom (who’s one of my human coworkers) will agree. My friend Lucy is very skittish around new humans and animals, but she certainly has a heart of gold, just like the Lion Dorothy meets on her way to Oz.
Giraffe
Did you know that giraffes are the tallest living animal, and they also spend most of their day eating? I know a number of dogs who would dream to fill those shoes. Idea – your pup could be a giraffe for a day! Get this Halloween costume for your big dog, and I’ll bet they get loads of compliments.
Superhero
Do you and your pup love comic books and movies? Well, that’s a silly question. Who doesn’t? Of all the hero puppy Halloween costumes, I would choose Spidey, because he is my current favorite. That being said, I change my favorites often, so I’d be happy with other superhero costumes, too. (Hint, hint, mom and dad!)
Bumblebee
This is such a great costume for a little dog. Even if your dog doesn’t like dressing up in puppy Halloween costumes, she will surely love this outfit. With just a sweater and a headband, there is barely any dressing up! Bonus- the main bumblebee costume piece doubles as a sweater to keep a tiny dog warm in the winter months. I consider this a win-win.
Star Wars
Bet you love Star Wars, I will. Love to wear a Yoda hat for a day, your wise puppy will. Nothing more I can say, there is. The best, this costume is.
Harry Potter
In the name of Hogwarts! Does your four-legged friend admire wizardry? Could he get lost in a Harry Potter book and spend the day dreaming about spells and adventures? If so, I’ll bet he would love this Harry Potter-themed costume for puppies. Have big thick-rimmed glasses? Lend them to your dog for the perfect photo opportunity.
King Mutt
Has your young dog taken charge of your house? Do you love Egyptian culture? If your dog wears royal digs, consider this handmade King Mutt costume. It is made with only the best fabric, just as King Tut himself would have requested.
Woolly Mammoth
Got a hankering for history? This woolly mammoth is sure to be a hit. Your prehistoric pup will shock all of the dogs at the dog park. Just be sure to take it off after a while, because I have a feeling your dog is bound to get sweaty with all of that extra fur.
Have you ever dressed up your dog for Halloween? What other costumes would you put your playful pal in? Let us know in the comments!
