5 of the Best Dog-Friendly Pubs in America

Planning a road trip around America? Stop by these 5 dog-friendly pubs during your travels.

Cold Beer in a Pub Counter

When I was on my road trip across America with my parents last year, we stopped by so many awesome restaurants and bars. Since much of the trip was planned spur-of-the-moment, it took some effort to find dog-friendly pubs nearby, but we ended up finding so many hidden treasures.

Here are some of my favorite dog-friendly pubs across America. Some I’ve been to and others have just been recommended to me, but I thought I’d pass them along to you as well.

Brendan Behan Irish Pub – Boston, Massachusetts

If you’re planning on a trip to Boston, I’ve got the best pet-friendly hotel recommendations, and also the best pub for you to bring your dog. Behan’s pub, in Jamaica Plain, a historic Boston neighborhood, is the perfect place to relax for a drink after a full day of touring the city.

The Bulldog – New Orleans, Louisiana

If you read my road trip round-up, you’ll know that New Orleans was one of my favorite stops on our trip. One place you won’t want to miss our on when visiting this beautiful city is The Bulldog. Not only is this pub accommodating to all size dogs, they also donate all spare change collected to their local SPCA. If you want to donate more than the few cents in your pocket, simply buy a collectible pint glass, and 100% of the profits will be given to the local SPCA. These folks love animals.

The Lucky Lab Brewery – Portland, Oregon

Love beer so much that you’re looking to make your next pit stop at a brewery? Well, The Lucky Lab Brewery is your best bet. Not only is this place named after a dog breed, but it has an entire outdoor patio dedicated to its loyal customers and their ever-loyal dogs. If you ask me, the best event this place sponsors is Dogtoberfest. Once a year they team up with a local animal hospital and do a day-long dog wash! So far, they’ve washed over 8,000 dogs and raised about $130,000 – not too shabby.

The Dog Bar – Charlotte, North Carolina

Looking for an off-leash dog-friendly pub where both humans and canines can unwind? Look no further than The Dog Bar. This indoor/outdoor location is a fun place to host birthday parties (for humans or pups), play games, or even watch a ball game on the big screen while your pup socializes.

Duck and Dog Pub – Austin, Texas.

First of all, who doesn’t like Austin? It’s such a great town, and there are so many great places to eat and grab a drink with friends. My favorite place is the Duck and Dog Pub. My humans tell me that they love it because there are so many different types of beers – in fact, there are over 40 local and national beers on tap with about 30 additional types of bottled beer. I’m not interested in the drinks at Duck and Dog, but I am interested in the dog biscuits. Woah – all I can say is they have some yummy biscuits.

What are your favorite dog-friendly pubs? Have you visited one that didn’t make my list? If so, leave a note in the comments so we can all enjoy it.
