Meet Momo from Pet Lifestyle and You

I love California, so I jumped at the chance to interview this office dog from San Francisco! Momo works at P.L.A.Y. (Pet Lifestyle and You) as the Chief Pug Officer. It’s not often an executive-level office dog has time to do interviews, so I really appreciate her taking her time to speak with me.

Napa: What breed are you?

Momo: My name is Momo, and I am a proud Pug.

Momo - This is da life in San Francisco

Napa: Tell me more about working at P.L.A.Y. I’d love to learn more about the company.

Momo: Here at P.L.A.Y., I am the Chief Pug Officer. My daily tasks include product testing, modeling for photos, keeping up team moral, pawtroling for treats, and of course being the face of the company. No one can resist my cute, wrinkly face.

A little about my company: P.L.A.Y. (Pet Lifestyle and You) is a San Francisco-based company designing eco-friendly and durable pet bedding and toys that are stylish for owners, safe for pets, AND better for our planet. Partnering with artists from San Francisco, New York, and Los Angeles, P.L.A.Y. creates exclusive and fashionable pet beds and toys. Napa: What is a typical day like in the P.L.A.Y office?

Momo: The life of an executive Pug is not as easy as you would think. Besides product testing (aka napping on our comfy beds or playing with toys), research and development are under my auspices. I am always on the hunt for that next big design to add to my award-winning collections, in between my belly rubs and treat breaks of course.

Napa: Whose desk do you sit under most often?

Momo: I prefer not to be tied down to one desk. In order to make sure my team is working efficiently, both the humans and the other dogs, I like to sit in the middle of the office preferably on more than one bed for a better vantage point to make sure everyone is staying on task. This way when someone needs my help – say to warm their lap, take a playful break to recharge, or needs help cleaning up those lunch scraps off the floor – I can be there in seconds.

Napa: When you get bored around the office (in between important in the office tasks), how do you keep busy?

Momo: Life at P.L.A.Y. is never boring. There is always a mailman to bark at, lap to be warmed, and toy to be tossed! The other office dogs and I partake in playtime often, and we like to entertain the humans with tricks. It is important to me that our office maintains a fun, playful environment, but at the end of the day everyone knows who the top dog is.

Napa: What’s the best thing you’ve ever eaten around the office (even if you weren’t supposed to)?

Momo: Bocce’s Bakery treats are my go to for a tasty snack, but I turn on Pug charms to get scraps from tasty meats, cheeses, and fruits – oh and don’t forget my morning yogurt routine – I’m kind of a health nut!

Napa: What’s your favorite funny dog video? Please share the link! Dog’s ordering food?

Momo: My favorite dog video is this Corgi dancing. This pup has moves!

Napa: Where are you from? What’s your favorite trait about the area you live in?

Momo: I currently reside in San Francisco, Calif. where the sun is always shining! I enjoy the quintessential California lifestyle including trips to the beach, long walks in the park, dozing al fresco outside, and yappy hours all over town! I’m living the dream, and luckily this town is very pet-friendly, so I am able to accompany my human everywhere to find new furry friends to mix and mingle with. Our offices are located in the South of Market (SOMA) neighborhood right down the street from AT&T Park where I root for the Giants, my favorite baseball team. I even got to attend the parade to celebrate our World Series victory where I am pretty sure Buster Posey winked at me – don’t be jelly!

Napa: If you could tell your human co-workers anything, what would it be?

Momo: Drop. More. Treats. I speak for all the office dogs when I say that we gotta make a living too, and we need more perks on the job. I keep trying to put in my requests to Canine Resources Department for automatic treat dispensers, but so far no luck. Darn humans.

Momo making a list of office improvements

Napa: Can you share any advice for other office dogs?

Momo: Maintain good working relationships with humans! Always have a positive, can-do attitude when dealing with subordinates. Be ready and able to lend a paw to your colleagues in need and don’t forget to work hard, nap hard and play hard!

Napa: I love your dog beds! Do you ever get to design the beds on your own at Pet Lifestyle and You, or is that a human’s job? If not, do you get to try them out?

Momo: I prefer to leave the bed and toy designs to my creative team of artists. A Pug can only do so much, and I am already spread so thin with my other duties. Plus let me tell you, it is hard to sketch a masterpiece with no thumbs. However, I am always happy to test out the new products and give my expert opinion to make improvements as needed. I am proud to say that I personally approved all of P.L.A.Y.’s products, well except our new Cat Collection of scratchers and tunnels, those mischievous felines can do their own testing – they lost me at “Meow.”
