I love interviewing new office dogs, but my favorite is when I can interview more than one office dog who work at the same office. Meet Hershey and Princess Boo, who work at AppInstitute in England. These two spunky pups go to work with their parents, and I couldn’t be more grateful that they allowed them to be interviewed. Enjoy!
Napa: What breed are you?
Hershey: I am a brown Cockapoo, and I am a boy.
Princess Boo: I am a French Bulldog, and I am a little girl.
Napa: Tell me more about working at AppInstitute.
Hershey: I love working at AppInsititute, I’ve been here for about three years now. The office is full of humans who look after me and give me treats.
Princess Boo: I’ve only been at AppInstitute since before Christmas 2014, so I’m still getting used to things.
Napa: What is a typical day like in the AppInstitute office?
Hershey: My Mum, Becky who is also the Creative Director here, lets me off my lead before I get in the door, and then I burst in and surprise everyone! They love me. I am the office guard dog, so new people fear me. But I am really a big softie who loves having my belly tickled. Hint, woof, hint.
Princess Boo: As I’m still getting to know everyone and my surroundings, it’s a lot to take in and I get so excited I don’t know where to go next.
Napa: Whose desk do you sit under most often?
Hershey: I mostly sit near my mum, but when she goes to get lunch I sit with Nabeena and Taylor (the marketing humans). They usually pay me lots of attention.
Princess Boo: I prefer sitting on peoples’ laps or behind them on their chairs – mainly my mum’s – but when she’s not looking I like to run off and sniff the other humans, and they always pick me up. My dad Ian Naylor is the CEO, and when everyone is too busy to cuddle me, I like to snooze near his desk.
Napa: When you get bored around the office (in between important in the office tasks), how do you keep busy?
Hershey: When I get bored I pester someone to stroke me, and then I sleep. If there is a sunbeam, I lay in that, or I curl up under mum’s desk and sleep.
Princess Boo: I explore the office, sniffing around under people’s tables for food dropped on the floor or find someone to fuss me.
Napa: What’s the best thing you’ve ever eaten around the office (even if you weren’t supposed to)?
Hershey: When the humans aren’t busy building apps and playing on their computer things, they usually have scrummy treats for me, so if I’m good (or I pester them enough) they give me all the treats.
Princess Boo: The marketing humans sometimes give me special yummy treats.
Napa: What’s your favorite funny dog video? Please share the link!
Hershey: My favorite funny dog video is “Dog Catch Fails.” It gets me every time.
Princess Boo: My favorite doggy video is the Frenchie puppy who tries to reclaim her bed from the cat!
Napa: Where are you from? What’s your favorite trait about the area you live in?
Hershey: Nottingham! Where I live there are lots of fields, and I have a big garden, so I run around chasing off birds and cats and any other animal that enters my territory.
Princess Boo: I live in Nottingham. I like to run around the St. Mary’s Churchyard by our office in the Lace Market. It’s beautiful there!
Napa: If you could tell your human co-workers anything, what would it be?
Hershey: Please share your food!
Princess Boo: You should definitely take more pictures of me – I love the camera!
Napa: Can you share any advice for other office dogs?
Hershey: If you lick your human’s feet, they will give you more attention.
Princess Boo: Try sitting behind your human on their desk chair, eventually they will move.
Napa: If you could create a dog-friendly app, what would it be?
Hershey: A very fitting question for this business. I would make an app that is a soundboard with typical things a dog would say. “I need a wee” or “Water, please” or “Belly tickle, please,” etc.
Princess Boo: A dog Tinder-style selfie app where you can rate other dogs.
