Meet Work Dogs Bodhi, Uma, and Quimby from Ben & Jerry’s!
The office dogs are back on the blog! Today, I’m honored to introduce three of the many Ben & Jerry’s work dogs. Not only does Ben & Jerry’s make the world’s best ice cream (Pumpkin Cheesecake is my new favorite!), but they also have some of the coolest work dogs ever. Ben & Jerry’s is such an awesome company that not only did they let me interview one office dog, they let me interview six incredible work dogs.
I want to send a special thank you to Sarah, Paula, and Kelly for allowing me to interview their pets. Today, you’ll meet Bodhi, Uma, and Quimby, three of the finest work dogs in the world! Be sure to come back next week for three more incredible Ben & Jerry’s work dogs!
Meet Bodhi, Pup-Pal of Sarah!
Napa: What’s your name and age?
Bodhi: Bodhi, 1 year
Napa:What breed are you?
Bodhi: Pug … or Gremlin
Napa: What’s a typical day like in the Ben & Jerry’s office?
Bodhi: I come into the office and try my best to go straight to reception for a cookie, but I’m not allowed to until later. I like to say hi to a few of my peeps on the way to my human’s desk, and I always try to sneak into Josie – the old Golden Retriever’s – cube … she hates me. I’ve got a sweet little setup at my human’s desk. I’ve got a bunch of toys, and there’s a jar of peanut butter and a box of cookies in my snack drawer. My human disappears from time to time, but I’ve got a fan club, so there’s always someone swinging by to pet me. At least twice a day me and my best buds head outside to chase each other and smell stuff. It’s like we’re in a club, and it’s kind of a big deal. I usually hit up that cookie at reception after one of these play dates. Evelyn at reception loves me; I might be her favorite. By 5pm, I am ready to GO! But my human isn’t, so this is when the cookies and peanut butter make their way into my Kong. I know what she’s doing, but I’m cool with it, well, because … peanut butter. Every once in a while there’s this magical thing called “Scoop U” in the office, and they open up the scoop shop. On this glorious day, I get to eat ice cream. It’s the best day of the year!
Napa: Whose desk do you sit under most often?
Bodhi: My human’s; however my buddy Jay is just across the way, and I’d rather sit with him sometimes. I like his shoes … and his beard.
Napa: What’s your favorite funny dog video? Please share the link!
Bodhi: Manny the Frenchie!
Napa: Can you share any advice for other office dogs?
Bodhi: Always know where the cookies are kept, and whatever you do, don’t poop under your human’s desk. That will definitely land you in doggie jail, aka, the crate.
Next Up Is Uma, Doggy of Paula
Napa: What’s your name and age?
Uma: Uma (Umie, Uma-ma). I just turned 7 years old!
Napa: What breed are you?
Uma: Mix of a mix of a mix.
Napa: What’s a typical day like in the Ben & Jerry’s office as a work dog?
Uma: Sleep, sleep, Yay dogs, running, poop, sleep, sleep, sleep, Yay dogs, sniffing, eating rabbit poop. Sleep, sleep. Time to go.
Napa: Whose desk do you sit under most often?
Uma: I’m too big for that type of thing.
Napa: When you get bored around the office (in between important in the office tasks), how do you keep busy?
Uma: Chew on my bone, scratch myself, shed a lot.
Napa: Can you share any advice for other office dogs?
Uma: Be cool, or you don’t get to come back!
The Final Pup of the Day Is Kelly’s Dog Quimby
Napa: What’s your name and age?
Quimby: Quimby – age 2.
Napa: What breed are you?
Quimby: Everything cute.
Napa: What’s a typical day like in the Ben & Jerry’s office?
Quimby: I come in to work and wait for friends to come in and say good morning, then I chase my tail a little, have playtime with my other pup friends. That makes me a little tired so it is on-and-off naps on my big fluffy pillow.
Napa: Tell me more about Ben & Jerry’s.
Quimby: It’s so much fun! I wish we had free rein of the place. That’s why I try and sneak out sometimes. It is so much fun to run in the halls!
Napa: Whose desk do you sit under most often?
Quimby: I don’t sleep under the desk. I have an awesome pillow.
Napa: What’s the best thing you’ve ever eaten around the office (even if you weren’t supposed to)?
Quimby: Kelly’s homemade coffee cake. It was on her desk, and when she left I snagged it. She was not too happy with me, but it was totally worth it.
Napa: Can you share any advice for other work dogs?
Quimby: Sit by the door looking cute. … People usually come back with treats. Oh, and no barking. It’s not only annoying to people in the office, it’s annoying for other pups when we are trying to nap.
