The life of a rock star doesn’t seem easy, but what about the life of an office dog who works with rock stars? Meet Asha, a Pumi from POP Montréal. While she’s currently providing therapy and support to all human workers, she really wants to be a rock star herself. If you like her after reading the interview (and who wouldn’t?), you can find her hanging out with the musicians at the POP Montréal International Music Festival next week!
Napa: What breed are you?
Asha: Pumi
Napa: Tell me more about POP Montréal.
Asha: POP Montreal is a magical place that I am happy to get to go to almost every day. The POP Montreal International Music Festival happens annually along with other events produced sporadically throughout the year, presenting an eclectic mix of emerging and celebrated music, art, film, symposium, and kids events. It’s a very cool event run by very cool people!
Napa: How did you get your job at POP Montréal?
Asha: My owner brought me with her one morning because I was too immature to be staying home alone. Surprise, surprise: Everyone at the office had a much better day! They loved me instantly, and I haven’t missed a day since.
Napa: How long have you been working there?
Almost a year now, since January 2014.
Napa: What is a typical day like in the Pop Montréal office?
Asha: “What’s For Lunch?” is always the most important email of the day. The office is generally very laid back until festival time comes knocking on our door. Then everyone suddenly starts running around taking their important phone calls and having their important meetings with today’s biggest indie artists as they put together the BEST programming ever!
Napa: I’ll bet you have a lot of job responsibilities. What is it that you do?
Asha: I mostly offer therapy and support. I also have my own weekly blog feature called Dog POP, aka Asha’s Corner, where you can find me hanging out with the festival’s biggest stars and learning a few things from them as I make my dreams of being a famous musician come true.
Napa: Whose desk do you sit under most often?
Asha: Definitely my owner and BFF Jen’s. I follow her everywhere, it’s almost as if she has me on a leash! Although I do like to pop into the east wing a couple times a day to surprise Melanie, too.
Napa: When you get bored around the office (in between important office tasks), how do you keep busy?
Asha: I do some photo shoots for my blog. No big deal.
Napa: What’s the best thing you’ve ever eaten around the office (even if you weren’t supposed to)?
Asha: Probably the POP pigeon mascot. I needed to eliminate the competition.
Napa: What’s your favorite funny dog video?
Asha: It’s more of a tear jerker than a funny video.

What a role model.
Napa: What is one office task that you’re not allowed to do, but you’d secretly love to do?
Asha: Keep everyone’s ears entertained with my singing. Not allowed to bark!
Napa: Do you get to attend music festivals? Have you ever performed in one?
Asha: I attend festivals all the time! My dad is a touring musician, and when I’m really obedient he brings me along. I’ve never performed in one yet, but someday …
