I love antiques. Some of them make great toys for tug-of-war, but don’t tell my office humans about that. Tilly, who works with antiques at Edenbridge Galleries, knows a lot about antiques and which ones are best for napping under.
Napa: What breed are you?
Tilly: A 5th generation Australian miniature Labradoodle.
Napa: Tell me more about working at The Edenbridge Galleries. I’d love to learn more about the company.
Tilly: The Edenbridge Galleries is a collective of antique dealers all specialising in different kinds of antiques. The owner, who is my human dad, is a furniture specialist on the BBC Antiques Roadshow. So he knows his stuff! My human mum runs everything from administration to marketing and sales.
Napa: What is a typical day like in The Edenbridge Galleries office?
Tilly: We go to the shop at 9:20am to open up ready for 9:30am. Saturdays we don’t open till 10am So we have a slightly lazier morning! I then usually make myself comfy either in one of the large windows, or if it gets too hot I settle underneath a table or somewhere that is cooler.
At some point during the day I may take myself to the office and get cozy on the spare chair. Trouble is I usually have to push off a handbag or something, although the humans are now realising I like this spot and tend to keep it clear. It has a nice cushion to get comfy on and have long naps.
During the day various clients may come in. Of course they all make a fuss of me. Anyone would think they’ve never seen a dog before! If I lay in the window I usually surprise passers-by when they realise I am for real!! No two days are ever the same for me. I even get to go out in the car sometimes with dad when he goes to look at antiques. That’s quite a treat!
Napa: Whose desk do you sit under most often?
Tilly: In the office I tend to sit on my favourite chair which is near both mum and dads desks. So it feels very safe and secure.
Napa: When you get bored around the office (in between important in the office tasks), how do you keep busy?
Tilly: I like watching the world go by as I sit in the window. I also see some of my four legged friends go by, and we have a little bark. A few days a week we have a lady come in and help, she loves to take me out for a walk at lunch time, so I am always very happy to see her!
Napa: What’s the best thing you’ve ever eaten around the office (even if you weren’t supposed to)?
Tilly: Not a lot of food gets left around the office, but I did nibble on a chocolate biscuit once, mum was not best pleased!
Napa: What’s your favorite funny dog video?
Tilly: I don’t watch the internet much. Mum thinks it’s bad for me!
Napa: Where are you from? What’s your favorite trait about the area you live in?
Tilly: I was born in Scotland, but I left when I was 8 weeks old. The best thing about where I live is all the beautiful countryside. Lots of open space where I can run wild and chase rabbits and pheasants. Never caught one though.
Napa: If you could tell your human co-workers anything, what would it be?
Tilly: That I am very lucky to be cared for so well. I know I am thoroughly spoilt!! And it is so lovely to be able to be around humans all day.
Napa: Can you share any advice for other office dogs?
Tilly: Stay calm behave yourself and then you get lots of attention and treats!
Napa: Do the big bosses ever allow you to handpick antiques for the gallery? If so/not what did/would you choose?
Tilly: So far I haven’t been asked but I think I would choose the lovely long dining table we have in stock at the moment. I love lying under it and dozing off.
Napa: What has been your favorite gallery event?
Tilly: We have just held a porcelain exhibition and I had so many people come and give me cuddles. Lots of attention which is always very nice!
