Today we went to our local pet store and bought about $100 worth of dog toys that were supposed to be rough and tough. Some of the toys we bought today even had endurance ratings!
Well, I wasn’t surprised but mildly disappointed that “tough” doesn’t mean “Napa tough,” because it’s been less than a day and he’s already destroyed the two he’s played with.
First up, the worst offender, is the Mighty Toys Piglet Dog Toy.
I love a good pig dog toy, in fact we almost bought two, but Napa’s dad said one was enough. So we got this one.
It wasn’t the toy that got ruined first out of the six toys we bought (reviews for those coming), but it is the one that claimed to be hardcore tough and wasn’t even close. AND it was $20. In fact the poor folks using Amazon are getting ripped off for $33.
I’m literally looking at a pile of fluff right now wondering what went wrong. The tragedy! There’s pig everywhere!
It’s been about an hour or two, but he’s only played with it for about 30 minutes. I could have ordered a pizza and lost $20 in a half hour, but I chose a cute pink piggy dog toy. Dammit.
The double stitching on this toy is only as good as how deep you stitch I guess. For Napa, it was first the tail, then really quickly he bit the whole nose off. If you’ve ever owned a dog, you know the tail face and legs come first. I wonder who designed this toy? Was it for ants? Er, I guess that Zoolander joke doesn’t fit here. Rewind.
I also thought it was strange that the squeaker was on the outside layer of the toy, right under the layers of fabric. Dogs go crazy for that squeaker, wouldn’t you want to tuck it a little further in so they wouldn’t be able to rip it out so easily?
I had high hopes for this one because it’s cute, it’s a pig dog toy, and he really, really loved it. Maybe because he was really confident that he could destroy it. Drats! Anyway, witness it for yourself. Sorry pig!
